PROJECT OVERVIEW:
West Avenue Cider House sees a lot of guests throughout the year, especially through the hospitality, event and wedding season. As part of this engagement, an enormous amount of waste is created including a lot of plastic water bottles.
As part of their commitment to reduce single use plastic waste as well as better utilize assets on the farm such as their natural spring water source and canning line, the team came to Insite to develop a more sustainable and recyclable beverage water program. We strategized that the solution should fit within the business’ Somerset Orchard sub brand so that the resulting products could easily sell offsite in area boutique food stores and restaurants.
The goal of the water’s creative solution was to raise the visual experience of enjoying the water while delivering the story and purpose of the product. The water is from West Avenue’s Somerset Orchard organic farm source spring which from the gate is a much better water to consumer than that of plastic bottled products shipped around the world. Then, as another layer, the product achieves a easy offering of sustainability — sourced and canned on site, no additives, in an infinitely recyclable container and part of a circular economic effort where almost every part of the product was locally sourced including our thinking, design and illustration.
Not all audiences think about a product’s health benefits, sustainability goals and economic impact when engaging in its consumption, but when they’re ready to, this water is ready to support their desire to be better, more thoughtful consumers.
